Almost lost...

Many of you know that we have frequented Michaels ALOT lately. The girls are getting quite comfortable there.

Well, this afternoon, we were there--again. I was looking at some crafts for the girls, at an end-cap. Kaylee was down one side of the isle, looking at books. Kiera, Kassi and Mikenna were down the otherside, looking at some crafts. I was done, said to the girls, "Let's go! I'm going to buy my stuff!" Kaylee soon follows me to the checkout counter. The others, well I figured I'd go after them after I'd made my purchases.

As I'm being helped, I notice a commotion near the front door (the cashier I was at is right by the front door.) There were several Michael's associates coming back in and I overhear parts of a conversation like, "Dorothy, we can't find...Dorothy...we'll have to page...Can you page...Dorothy." I'm thinking, "Oh, someone named Dorothy works here." I'm paying for my stuff when I hear, over the intercom..."Dorothy, we have your lost daughter Mikayla here at the front waiting for you." I turn around, and there is an associate holding Mikenna's hand looking towards the back of the store, waiting for me to come get her. I reach out (literally, because they are standing an arms length away from me) and touch Mikenna on the shoulder saying, "Mikenna! Mommy's right here!!" She turned with tears in her eyes and a very sad frown to look at me, and started crying. Kassi exclaims, "There's Mikenna!! I thought Mikenna wasn't with us!"

So, I'm glad Mikenna had enough sense for an almost 4 year old to ask someone for help, knew my name, and did her best to tell her name. (She said that she had to say her name several times, and the ladies still got it wrong.) VERY GLAD that she didn't get taken. Will have to rethink the whole shopping with the girls situation thing though...

Oh, poor Mikenna. Yeah she is a smart one.
